Erasmus Mundus Joint Master FAMEAIS

The new Erasmus Mundus Joint Master FAMEAIS has been selected for funding by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission !

The FAMEAIS (Functional Advanced Materials Engineering with Artificial Intelligence for Sustainability) Master is a two-year Master of Science Program in the field of functional materials. Taught fully in English and organized by a consortium of 7 European universities leaders in the field, the new program follows the FAME+ program as the fourth run of the FAME curriculum, a well-established European Joint Master Degree organized by the FAME consortium since 2007, resulting in more than 200 graduates all around the world. The new funding enables the continuation of the program with the training of 5 cohorts of students, the first one starting from academic year 2022-2023.

Within FAMEAIS, European mobility is implemented in such a way to benefit from the complementary sets of knowledge and skills available at the universities of the consortium. The course offer at ULiège consists in a selection of teachings organized by the Department of Physics and the Department of Chemistry (Faculty of Sciences) focused on the topic of 'Quantum materials and functional nanostructures'.

Prof. N. D. Nguyen is the FAMEAIS local coordinator at ULiège. Prospective students may contact him for additional details on the course program, the scholarships and the application process (online submissions via a new website to be opened on December 12th, 2022 - more information soon).

FAMEAIS Master in a nutshell:
"The FAMEAIS Erasmus Mundus Joint Master aims at the training of high-level graduates for European research and industry, proactive in mobilizing artificial intelligence methods and addressing the sustainability challenges in the field of Advanced Materials, a strategic key enabling technology for European competitiveness. The overall objective of the FAMEAIS programme is to train the most promising students from all over the world, in a multidisciplinary approach, to develop new paths for the design and manufacture of sustainable materials. Fully taught in English, this 120 ECTS master programme will lead to Double Master Degrees in Materials Science and has the ambition to provide Joint Degrees. FAMEAIS will gather seven European Higher-Education Institutions, leading in the field of materials science: Aveiro in Portugal, Bordeaux and Grenoble Institute of Technology in France, Augsburg and Darmstadt in Germany, Liège and Louvain-la-Neuve in Belgium. FAMEAIS curriculum implements Artificial Intelligence training and sustainability considerations through the teaching of Physics and Chemistry of Materials. The teaching assets rely on innovative learning practices based on learning-by-doing approach, virtual exchanges and blended mobility. Associated partners from industry, research and technology organizations, worldwide universities and alumni are strongly involved in student mentorships, online seminars, plant visits, company internships and master thesis. The FAMEAIS graduates, prepared to work in a multicultural professional environment, will join industry and/or PhD positions, or even start their own business in the technological domain of functionalized advanced materials, tackling both technological and sustainability challenges."
