Le lundi 23 janvier 2023, Justine HUSTIN présentera l'examen en vue de l’obtention du grade académique de Docteur en Sciences (Collège de doctorat en Chimie) sous la direction de Loïc QUINTON et Edwin DE PAUW.

Cette épreuve consistera en la défense publique d’une dissertation intitulée :

« Kendrick's Differential Plot as an Analytical Tool for Mass Spectrometry of Complex Lipid Samples ».

Abstract

The objective of this thesis is to develop a fast Kendrick-based method adapted to a rapid qualitative profiling and high-throughput screening of complex lipid extracts, in a non-targeted manner. 
To sum up, the work will introduce the use of differential Kendrick's plots as a rapid visualization tool for a qualitative non-targeted analysis of lipid categories and classes, from data generated by either liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) or direct infusion mass spectrometry (nESI-MS). Moreover, methods (LC-MS vs nESI-MS) and sample will be compared to illustrate the discriminating power of the method and its use in various scientific fields such as life sciences and food sciences. Finally, a short introduction on semi-quantitative analysis of lipids using direct infusion mass spectrometry (nESI-MS) will be demonstrated.
