Biography
Born in 1969 (Tournai, Belgium). Master in Applied Physics (Ingénieur civil physicien) from the Université catholique de Louvain in 1992. Doctor in Applied Sciences from the Université Catholique de Louvain in 1997. Research Associate at Yale University (USA) from 1998 to 1999. Assistant Professor from the Université de Liège in 1999, Associate Professor in 2002, Professor in 2005 and Full Professor in 2009. Francqui Research Professor from 2011 to 2014. Invited Professor at EPFL (Switzerland) in 2002, at the Université de Bordeaux (France) in 2004 and at the Université de Genève (Switzerland) en 2010. Member of the Advisory board of the international ABINIT software since 2002. General Secretary of the European Multifunctional Materials Institute since 2008. Director of the CESAM Research Unit since 2016. Active in the first-principles theory and modelling of functional materials and nanostructures since more than 25 years, combining theoretical and methodological developments and material applications, mainly on oxide perovskites. Author of more than 150 articles in international journals and of more than 140 invited talks at international conferences and in foreign research institutions.
