Le 19 mars prochain, la Professeure Sheena Elizabeth Radford recevra les insignes de Docteur honoris causa de notre université, en tant que candidate proposée par la faculté des Sciences.

Directrice du prestigieux Astbury Centre for Structural Molecular Biology, Sheena Radford a très largement contribué à une meilleure compréhension des mécanismes mis en œuvre lors du repliement et de l’autoassemblage des protéines.

Dans le cadre de sa venue à Liège elle donnera, le vendredi 18 mars, une conférence publique intitulée "Folding a Protein: Nature’s Origami".

Folding a Protein: Nature’s Origami

The group of Professor Radford works on the mechanism(s) of protein misfolding and assembly into amyloid, specifically the molecular mechanisms of oligomerisation and the structural molecular mechanisms of amyloid-associated cytotoxicity. She also works on membrane protein folding mechanisms, the role of the BAM complex in folding bacterial outer membrane proteins into the cell wall, stabilising proteins of therapeutic/ interest against aggregation.
