Euclid: Exciting first scientific results
The consortium, which includes researchers from the University of Liège, unveils the first fascinating discoveries made using the telescope that was tested at the CSL (Centre Spatial de Liège).
The Faculty of Sciences, by its uniqueness but also its diversity, is at the service of the triple university mission: teaching, research and citizenship.
One of the missions of the Faculty of Science is to prepare students to become self-reliant scientists imbued with the critical thinking and adaptability necessary to meet tomorrow's technological challenges.
At the forefront of research, the Faculty of Science develops a rigorous and innovative scientific approach that contributes to the quality of its teaching.
Although it satisfies the intellectual need and curiosity of the scientist, science is open to the world. In the service of men and women, it is closely linked to all aspects of human life.
Wendy Müller, an F.R.S.-FNRS aspirant in the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory (MSLab) at the University of Liège, has just been awarded a research grant by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to continue her research in the laboratory of Prof. Klaus Dreisewerd at the University Clinic Münster (UKM) in Germany.

The project of Wendy Müller, who has a doctorate in chemistry and is an FNRS researcher at the MSLab (MolSys research unit / Faculty of Science) at ULiège, aims to develop new SALDI mass spectrometry post-ionisation strategies, combined with high spatial resolution mass spectrometry imaging, for the analysis of pharmaceutical compounds at the (sub)cellular level. Wendy Müller will focus her research on improving the detection limits of pharmaceutical compounds and their metabolites, by improving their ionisation efficiency through the development of new post-ionisation strategies, and on optimising sample preparation to achieve the high spatial resolution required for (sub)cellular imaging.
This research is of great interest to the pharmaceutical industry as it could open up new avenues, for example, for studying the impact of pharmaceutical compounds on cellular processes and their potential toxicological effects.
Humboldt Research Fellowships for Postdocs are prestigious grants awarded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to brilliant researchers worldwide and from all disciplines. Humboldt Research Fellowships are awarded based on academic excellence and the researcher's potential for academic success. They enable highly qualified researchers at the start of their scientific careers to carry out a research project of their choice in Germany, in collaboration with an academic host from a German research institution.

A study led by ULiège enriches our understanding of the Earth's past and documents the mechanisms leading to evolutionary convergence.
The SPECULOOS project, led by the University of Liège, has revealed the existence of an Earth-sized planet around SPECULOOS-3, a nearby star similar in size to Jupiter and twice as cold as our Sun.
