18th edition of the Erasmus Mundus Master in Marine Environment
In Spain, in San Sebastián with ULiège: 45 students from 25 countries study the sustainability of ocean services, climate change and marine pollution.
The primary mission of the Faculty of Science is to prepare students to become self-reliant scientists imbued with the critical thinking and adaptability necessary to meet tomorrow's technological challenges.
In our modern societies, science and technology play a decisive role. More and more scientists are therefore needed to enable innovation and to pursue ever more specialized and advanced technological development. Thus, the first mission of the Faculty of Science is to is to prepare students to become self-reliant scientists imbued with the critical thinking and adaptability necessary to meet tomorrow's technological challenges.
The Faculty of Sciences of the University of Liege organizes all the "classical" training courses in sciences within the framework of its bachelors and masters (biology, chemistry, geography, geology, mathematics and physics). It also offers master's degrees in bioinformatics and modeling, global change and environmental sciences and management, as well as master's courses that are unique in the Walloon-Brussels Federation, namely the master's degree in geographic sciences, geomatics orientation, oceanography and space sciences. Finally, several highly qualified courses (specialization masters) are also available on themes such as risk and disaster management in the Anthropocene era, the Water-Energy-Food Nexus approach, space sciences (cosmos exploration) and nanotechnologies.
Teaching at the Faculty of Science is multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary. During their studies, students will be supervised by passionate teacher-researchers, each of whom is a specialist in his or her own field. The teaching teams are dynamic and proactive. Individualized support is offered to students when they set up their annual course program, personalized feedback is given following evaluations, and coaching sessions (for in-depth study of specific subjects or analysis of work methods) are regularly organized..
One of the specificities of science teaching at ULiège is the great diversity and the important number of field activities integrated in the curricula of students of some of the courses (biologists, geographers, geologists...), thus offering the possibility to combine practical and theoretical approaches. Didactic trips are also organized.

The Master of Science in Marine Environment and Resources (MER) is a joint European Master's degree in Oceanography that can be funded by an Erasmus Mundus scholarship. Applications must be submitted by 15 January 2024 at the latest!
